Robert Hansson - trumpet

 

Robert was born in Malmø, Sweden, 1945. He began playing with West End Jazz Band in 1961 and then continued with Sct. Johns Harlem Thootpickers, a big band, which took part in Monica Zetterlunds Summer Show 1965.

He started playing professionally in 1966 with  Skånska Tradsextetten, which had the honour to be the support band  to Count Basie during his Swedish tour in 1968.

Robert played with Kansas City Stompers for three years, and  then started on a lifelong carrier as journalist. He was a freelance musician for ten years, playing with Gunnar Siljabloo Nilsson, Åke Johansson and the vocalist Sonja Hedenbratt among others. He met Michael Boeving in 1979 and joined his Dreamland Jazz Band.

He played with Dansk-Svensk Jazzforsyning  for nine years, which was awarded The Femø Jazz Price 2002. In this period he also was a member of The Boulevard Sextette and The Extra Vaganza Jazz Band  until he began playing with Hans Holbroes Cap Hornblowers.

Robert has been a part of SRB since 1997. Until today he has recorded 17 CD’s with different groups in Sweden and Denmark. He has contributed to the CD "Halfdan Rasmussens Børnerim" with Tom Nagel Rasmussen and  Peps Perssons Bloodband.

Besides music and writing he is a hobby painter.
